WHAT TO EXPECT
We’ll give you all of our expert knowledge in detail upon your arrival. But for now, here’s a snapshot:
-
Ice-out typically occurs during the 2nd week of May
-
Fishing season begins the 3rd Saturday in May
-
Since lake trout prefer water temperatures 52° or colder, they feed all the way up to the surface until the beginning of June
-
Bright-colored spoons, stick baits or in-line spinners can be trolled just under the surface of the water to catch trophy lakers
-
Use fish finders to locate trout suspended in the water column (these lake trout are feeding and, thus, easier to catch than the trout near the bottom)
-
Trigger strikes by using a zigzag trolling pattern and varying boat speed
AVERAGE temps
Late May
High 67° F
Low 44° F
Early June
High 70° F
Low 48° F
